Papamoa Self Storage FAQ's

If you’re looking to rent one of our secure self storage units in Papamoa chances are you might have some questions.. Here are some of the answers to the most common questions we get.

When can I access my storage?
You have your own pin-code to enter the Lock and Store facility between 5am-10pm seven days a week. If you require 24 hour access speak to us and we can arrange that for you  
What can't I store?
We ask that you don't store:
• Animals, animal products or perishable foodstuffs.
• Flammable or combustable materials
• Illegal or stolen items, unsecured firearms, precious metals or jewellery
How long can I rent a space for?
The minimum rental period is 1 month, and we require 7 days notice for terms to end. Otherwise you can rent self storage space with us for as long as you wish. Any monies paid in advance are refunded.
Do I need to provide notice when leaving?
We require 7 days notice for terms to end.
Does Lock and Store provide insurance?
We advise you to speak with your current insurer, to inform that that your items are in storage with is, and provide a inventory for high value items to them as well. Most insurers will have a $ value threshold for such items
How do I pay for my storage space?
We recommend automatic payment to our account, which we can help you arrange.
How are the units locked?
We make sure the facility is highly secure but we ask that you provide your own padlock.
How do you make sure the facility is secure?
We use Opentech Security System meaning only those with a code can enter the facility - be that staff or other customers. We also have CCTV, security lighting and fencing to make sure our storage is safe with us.
What if I need more space?
Depending on capacity of the facility, we can accommodate, however, we suggest giving us a call or dropping us a message to give us an idea of what you want to store and we can recommend the correct size of unit.
What is the best way to store clothing?
We suggest the best way to store clothing is in cartons, cloth sacks, or plastic bags. Place mothballs inside the containers.
What is the best way to beds and mattresses?
Cover your mattresses, bed bases, lounge suites etc with plastic covers or sheets.

Keep the items off the floor for long term storage to improve airflow. Use pallets or cardboard to cover the concrete floor
How should I store my electrical items?
Electrical equipment such as Televisions, laptops, computers and other electrical goods are best packed into the boxes they came in, or packed into appropriate-sized cardboard boxes using newspaper or filler materials to fill in the gaps.

We highly recommend that you remove batteries from appliances, remotes and toys to avoid damage from battery leakage
Do you provide boxes for storage?
We don't but will happily advice and recommend where you can get these.
